Before opening the company, they worked as research consultants for the pharmaceutical industry, studying and testing medications for various medical conditions. However, they witnessed an over-dependence on pharmaceutical medications and recognized the importance of dietary and lifestyle changes.

In 2011, the Braidwoods formed Saratoga Olive Oil Co., shifting their focus to selling extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) and balsamic vinegars. This change aligned with their desire to educate the public on the health benefits of these products, which are at the core of the Mediterranean diet, one of the healthiest diets in the world.
